Bill Lapp founded Advanced Economic Solutions in Omaha, Nebraska in 2005. After 25 years of market experience, Bill recognized an opportunity to offer his expertise to a diverse array of companies involved in various branches of the food industry. The independent consulting firm of AES was thus created to carry out the goal of providing quality economic research and consultation to all clients.

As the world’s economic landscape evolves, so too will AES and the advice we supply to clients. Through volatile economic times AES will provide sound and stable guidance for the present and the future.

Bill Lapp

President

Bill Lapp is founder and president of Advanced Economic Solutions.  Bill graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1979 with a B.A. in Mathematics, and from Purdue University in 1981 with a M.S. in Agricultural Economics. He has over 30 years of experience analyzing and forecasting economic conditions and commodity markets, and has a wealth of experience providing comprehensive economic analysis of the major commodity markets. Bill has been a featured speaker at numerous national forums, including the restaurant industry’s semi-annual Supply Chain Management conference and the USDA Annual Outlook conference.  Prior to forming Advanced Economic Solutions, Bill was Chief Economist for ConAgra Foods. He has served on numerous boards, including the Kansas City Board of Trade, Kansas City Federal Reserve Board’s Center for the Study of Rural America, the Farm Foundation, and the Food and Agriculture Committee of the Omaha Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he is a member of USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service Advisory Board, and participates on the Harvard Business Industrial Economists’ Round-Table.

 

Amy Smith

Amy graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2002 with a B.S. in Agribusiness and from Texas A&M in 2005 with a Master of Agribusiness. Amy started her career with Safeway in Colorado as a meat and seafood buyer. She then moved into foodservice where she spent time with Qdoba, Einstein Noah, Quizno’s and finally SpenDifference/Foodbuy where she handled the analysis of commodities as well as buying and contract negotiation on all proteins and deli meats, grains, doughs, batters and breads, oil, dairy and misc. grocery.
